What is Reiki?

A Japanese Buddhist priest name Dr. Mikao Usui developed a method of natural therapy that has been taught in the west since 1938.

Reiki is a word, an energy, and a holistic healing system that works on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. Reiki is translated as a universal life force energy that operates at a higher and faster vibration called ki or as the power of chi. Chi is present the physical body as well as the aura surrounding the body.

A reiki practitioner acts as a channel or conduit of the life force through any energy blockages and promotes healing. Recipients remain fully clothed and lay on a massage table or sit in a chair. The practitioner lays hands on the person's body without massage, pressure or manipulation.

While receiving the treatment, people can feel warmth or a tingling where the practitioner's hands are placed. Placement of the practitioner's hands follow Dr. Usui's method resulting in feeling relaxed and less stressed.

What is Sonic Massage?

Sound healing is a healing modality whose roots go back to pre-historic times. We have all experienced the change in mood that comes from hearing beautiful harmonies. Differing from musical therapy, sound healing does not involve the use of rhythm, lyrics, or melodies to reach therapeutic goals. Sound healing focuses on the use of pure sounds to resonate with the body and the mind, bringing deep and healing relaxation.

Sonic massage involves the use of Himalayan singing bowls and other instruments to create an aural experience that can reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation, and rebalance the nervous system. A practitioner may also place bowls on the body of the recipient who rests on a massage table while fully clothed. By placing, or gliding, the bowls along the body, the sonic vibrations can resonate in the tissues and bones increasing blood flow, releasing energy blockages and encouraging natural healing processes.

What is Yoga?

Yoga is a group of physical, mental and spiritual practices that originated in the Indian subcontinent in ancient times. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit term yuj that means to unite or yoke. In this philosophical system, the practices develop a union of the mind, body, breath and spirit.

Yoga is practiced worldwide, but in the west, practitioners tend to focus on the posture based physical practices (known as asanas) that promote physical fitness, stress-relief and relaxation. Traditionally, classical yoga has 8 limbs that include ethical, moral, meditative and spiritual paths to enlightenment. Della offers Hatha based classes that focus on physical alignment as well as breathwork and meditation.
